Just Bought a Sick Betta Fish!?

Alright, first did you condition the water? Second, does your tank have a filter and heater because they do much better with those things. Third, he hangs near the surface because there is either not enough oxygen in the water, or he is very lazy. Fourth, you could add a little bit of salt (maybe a teaspoon or two) to replenish and heal your betta. Fifth, make sure your feeding him betta food (the best type of betta food I found is the Aqueon brand) along with frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms. You can buy that from any pet store that has fish. Sixth?, hope I helped! :)

1. i have a betta question.?

First, a heating pad is not good, because it does not sense the temperature of the water, which is the important part. The pad is probably intended for lizards etc., and although it seems like it might work, it will have the water temp going up and down like a yo-yo, and who knows what temperature the water will get to, which is worse than a steady but too-cool temperature. It might even get hot enough to 'cook' your fish. Could you possibly get a larger tank, like a 2-gallon? It would make your Betta happier to have more room, and because of the larger water volume you could use a 75-watt mini-heater, and a filter. That would keep the water cleaner, and the heater has a built-in thermostat, so it would turn on only when needed, keeping the temperature steady. It would also mean less water maintenance than a bowl. If the water is cloudy, change it. Do a 50% change, and if that does not clear it up, do it again half a day later. Why did the water get cloudy? Did you overfeed him? Bettas should be fed floating pellets, only 3-6 pellets per meal. They have small stomachs, and are easily over-fed, resulting in problems. For treats, maybe once a week, you could give him blood-worms, and peas. The pea should have its skin removed, and you will only need one half. Cut it into pellet-sized tiny pieces, and feed it to him one at a time on the end of a toothpick. Remove any dropped pieces or they will rot. Do you use water-conditioners to get rid of chlorine and chloramine? Do you add some sort of stress-coat? Mix the chemicals into the water, and let it sit for 15-30 minutes before using it for your fish. Mix the water in a clean container, that is reserved for this purpose, and has not been used for harsh chemicals. Is your Betta a male? The fins are the fastest identification. A female's fins are less long (from body to edge) than the depth of her body (back to belly). A male's fins are lots longer, maybe 2 or 3 times the depth of his body. The 'beard' might not be all that visible, especially in a younger male. Does your fish 'flare' if you show him his reflection? Do not overdo this; it stresses him because he's getting all worked up to defend his territory. When he flares, his gill-covers stick up like a collar. The beard is an extension of the gill cover, from one side to the other, to make the collar look bigger. When it's folded down, he may not be able to tuck in all of the extension, and that is why you would see a 'beard'.

2. New gas heater.. house smells of gas?

What variety of heater are you talking about? Is it superser or an identical ie a steel cabinet with a gasoline bottle inside? If so disconnect the bottle and get the heater checked out by using a corgi engineer or store who specialises in these. Is it a gasoline hearth? Flip it off. This valve is customarily observed underneath at the entrance. Failing that flip it of on the meter, open the windows and call a corgi engineer to restore it.

3. Is it ok to turn my fish tank off at night?

NOOOOO. Filter and heater MUST run 24/7. The light is the only thing you can turn off at night

4. Can a orange molly fish live in just a regular glass bowl?

i think mollys (mollies?) need some salt and also a heater. heater is important for them i believe. this is more important than a larger tank imo. filter-less. maybe yes maybe no. i had a red bellied parhana in a goldfish bowl for 2 years when i was a kid and didnt know any better. he only died when i cleaned the bowl out COMPLETELY.

How Can I Turn Down the Temperature of My Wwater Heater?
How can I turn down the temperature of my wwater heater?never heard of a water heater exploding.— — — — — —Water Heater RegulationsThe other pending regulation is on new minimum energy efficiency standards for commercial water heating equipment. As mentioned earlier, that rulemaking was not completed by the end of the Obama Administration, and as a result, is now pending. The issue with that rulemaking is it has a legal deadline by which the DOE has to issue the new final rule on new minimum efficiency standards for commercial water heating equipment by May 2018. Because this rulemaking was not completed, it is not subject to the 60-day freeze in the sense that you are not really freezing anything because they never finished it. "But with the new Administration coming in," says Greene, "there is the prospect that it may say, 'Well we do not really think this is necessary and we are going to attempt to roll it back.'"— — — — — —If the pilot light goes out on your hot water heater is it dangerous or harmfulNo, it is not dangerous. (Unless you are working with a water heater that is 20 years old.) In any modern hot water heater, if the pilot light goes out a fail-safe will go off - preventing gas from leaking out. Also, there is a sensor so if there is not enough air-flow or oxygen with the water heater, it will shut off the gas.— — — — — —How to Install a Gas Water HeaterSome areas require seismic straps to prevent earthquake damage. These straps brace the water tank against the wall to keep the unit from toppling over. If you are not in an earthquake zone, skip ahead to the next step. Seismic straps should be installed approximately 6 inches from the top of the water heater and 18 inches from the bottom. Locate the wall studs closest to the strap measurement and drill pilot holes. Secure one end of the strap to the stud with a socket and ratchet. If block covers the studs, use a masonry bit to create a pilot hole. Wrap the strap around the water heater and adjust the size, securing the adjustable bracket on the opposite side. Pull the strap tight and repeat the process on the lower strap.— — — — — —Tank vs. Tankless Water Heaters?Hello, I think it's no problem to run a 3 zone if the power is large enough. Concerning Tank vs. Tankless Water Heaters, you could find many differences via search through google or yahoo. Do not show here. We are one Chinese Electric Tankless Water Heater Manufacturer. More info, please visit the following source.— — — — — —How to Prevent Scale Buildup in a Hot Water Heater Heating ElementWhile there are many things that you can do to prevent scale buildup, one of the most reliable of these is to invest in a water-softening system. This removes the ions dissolved in the water that cause the water to be "hard," calcium and magnesium. A water-softening system must be maintained, as water-softening systems exchange the calcium and magnesium ions for another ion, usually sodium, the sodium ions will run out after a while and need replacement. Because hard water is damaging to pipes and appliances and it inhibits soaps and detergents, however, you may find using such a system worthwhile.— — — — — —The Best Tankless Water Heaters for the HomeHike Crew's portable, propane-powered water heater combines the luxuries of home with the ruggedness of camping. That works well if there are a number of people in the room or they are moving about within the room. Some convection heaters also have fans to circulate the air in the room. Convection heaters are inexpensive. You will get one rated up to 5,000 Btu's for less than $50. Like radiant heaters, convection heaters use a variety of heating elements. Ceramic disc heaters cost up to $150 and produce up to 5,000 Btu's per hour. Oil and water filled units are the most efficient convection heaters. They utilize a heating element in a bath of oil or water. Like a water heater, the element cycles on and off. The water or oil stays warm in it's container and heats the surrounding air.
